How to Use

Brows

For best results, first prep the area by cleansing the brow with Pinkfishes Pink Refine Shampoo or Sensitive Cleansing Sachets.

Then, use Pinkfishes Eyebrow Scrub and Eyebrow Scrub Brush to exfoliate the brow and then re-cleanse with a shampoo to leave the area clean, dry and oil-free.

Next map out the brows with mapping string. Using the built-in cutter on the lid, cut off the desired amount of string. Use the thread to temporarily mark the brow area and "map out" the desired shape. Once finished, simply wipe the string markings away with a slightly damp cotton pad.

Mix your chosen Pinkfishes Hybrid Brow Stain with Pinkfishes Hybrid Stain Developer (ratio: for every 2 drops of brow stain, add 1 drop of hybrid stain developer).Use the dappen dish to mix your tint and developer together.
Mix well and apply to the brow area using an eyebrow brush. You can mix different Pinkfishes Hybrid Stain shades to get your desired colour.

Ensure any excess product is removed immediately so it does not stain the skin, using Pinkfishes Hybrid Tint & Stain Remover. Pinkfishes Tint & Stain Remover can be used to correct any mistakes of stain or tint on the skin, or to neaten brows and lashes. Apply Pinkfishes Tint & Stain Remover to a clean cotton pad or cotton bud before gently applying to the stained skin. Rinse with clean water and pat dry.

For best results, apply 3-4 thin layers of tint to the brow. Leave on for a maximum of 7-10 minutes (timings will vary) and then wipe off with a wet cotton pad. To create an ombré look, apply for a shorter amount of time on the head of brow.

Lashes

When using Hybrid Stain to tint the eyelashes during a Lash Lift, mix up your chosen shade with the Hybrid Stain Developer in a ratio of 2 drops of brow stain to 1 drop of developer. Apply the stain after processing Step 2, while the lashes are still on the shield, from root to tip. Leave to process for 7-10 minutes and then remove with a damp cotton bud. Proceed with the rest of the treatment.

If using the Hybrid Stain to tint the lashes on their own, mix up your chosen shade with the Hybrid Stain Developer in a ratio of 2 drops of brow stain to 1 drop of developer. Make sure to apply a barrier to the skin around the lashes (under the eye) using eye pads or a damp cotton pad. Apply the tint to the lashes from root to tip, by brushing it through the lashes on the pad. Leave to process for 7-10 minutes, then remove with a damp cotton bud.

FAQ

Can Hybrid Stain be used on lashes?

Yes, you can use any of the stain colours on lashes (however
we wouldn't recommend going any lighter than Dark Brown or Black).

How can I use this on lashes?

Mix the stain with the developer in the same way you would
with brows, and apply the stain across the entire length of the lashes from
root to tip for 7-10 minutes.

How do I patch test Hybrid Stain?

Mix 2 drops of tint with 1 drop of developer and apply a small dot to the inside crease of your clients’ elbow. After 10 minutes, this can be wiped off and the stain will remain. If there is any itchiness or discomfort in the area, then this is a reaction, and the treatment cannot go ahead.

How long should the stain sit on the skin before removal?

The tint can be applied for up to 10 minutes, the longer you
leave it the deeper the colour will be. It can be applied for less time to obtain a lighter colour, however this will mean that the stain won’t last as long on the skin.

I left the stain on for 10 minutes but there was no stain on
the skin – why?

If the area wasn’t properly cleaned and prepped, then the
oils on the skin can stop the tint from soaking into the skin. It is really important that you remove all traces of makeup and properly prep the skin with the Brow Scrub and a Brow Shampoo to ensure all oils are removed. Make sure the brows are dried before applying the tint, if the skin is still wet the tint won’t soak in as well. When applying the henna, make sure you stamp the brush in in to the skin, so that the hair and skin is properly saturated in the tint.

I used Light Brown on a blonde client and it came out really
dark – why?

Lighter, finer hairs absorb colour a lot faster than coarser
darker hairs, and it’s important to keep this in mind when choosing the colour and processing time for your client. When treating a fair-haired client, check the results after a few minutes by removing a small part of the tint with a damp cotton bud. It may be that the hairs are darkened but the skin is not, and in this case, we recommend removing the tint to ensure the hair does
not go too dark. Fair clients need to be made aware that it may not stain the skin as there is a much lighter pigment which will not always take to the skin.

Could my Hybrid Stain be out of date?

Yes, your stain will last for 6 months after opening and
your developer will last for 12 months after opening. If you use the tint after this date, there is a chance that it will not work as well.

I have used a shade that’s too light for my client – what
can I do?

When you are applying the tint, we recommend removing a
small section of the tint before removing all of it to check it has developed to the right colour for your client. If it is too light, then you can apply a second layer of a darker shade over the top to make the brows darker.

How long will the Hybrid Stain last on my clients?

The hybrid tint will last for 7 weeks on the hair (brows and lashes) and will give a tattoo effect on the skin for up to 10 days.

Why are my clients’ brows fading faster than stated?

Water and sweat will cause them to fade faster. If they go to the gym a lot, make sure to manage their expectations prior to the treatment. They need to be aware that they need to keep their brows dry for 12-24 hours after the treatment, and even after then, no scrubs or peels can be used on the brow area.

If the client has particularly oily skin, this can also
cause the tint to fade quicker.

It could also be down to something you may have done in the treatment, so make sure that you have checked all the following too;

The skin was still damp from the pre-cleansing.
The hybrid tint was applied too thinly meaning the skin wasn’t completely covered under the brow hairs.
The skin was not properly prepped and cleansed.
The colour of tint was too light for the client’s skin.
The client has minimal brow hairs and as the tint lasts less time on the skin it will fade quicker than if there was hair there.

Can I tint my clients’ brows with Hybrid Stain after they
have been laminated?

Yes – hybrid tint can be used in combination with, or after
a brow lamination.

Can I use Hybrid Tint on pregnant or breastfeeding clients?

No, this treatment is not suitable for pregnant or
breastfeeding clients. Due to the change in hormones at this time, they can be a lot more susceptible to reactions at any stage which makes this treatment unsafe. Especially as pregnant people cannot take many antihistamines/antibiotics to combat any reactions that occur.

What is the aftercare for Hybrid Stain?

Make sure you explain the aftercare to each of your clients
post treatment and get them to sign that they have received this on their client record form. The aftercare advice is as follows;

Do not get the eyebrow area wet for the first 24 hours.
No intense activity that can cause sweating for 24 hours. If they regularly do this after this date then advise your client that the brows may fade quicker.
Do not apply any makeup in the region in the first 24 hours.
Use as little cleaning products as possible after this point, no scrubs or peels though.
Try not to apply lots of cream to the area.
Limit sun/sunbed exposure, especially in the first 24 hours– this will cause the colour to fade faster and can trigger an allergy.
