Cysteamine is a newer, more “hair-friendly” active ingredient that has quickly gained popularity as a gentler alternative to traditional perming agents. A lash lift is a treatment designed to reshape the natural lashes, creating a lifted, more curled, and beautifully defined appearance. It’s the perfect option for clients who want a natural yet impactful enhancement. The process works by carefully softening the hair structure, reshaping the lashes into the desired shape, and then setting them in place. The treatment is finished with nourishing products to help maintain lash health and integrity. Lash lifts are often paired with a tint to deepen the colour and further enhance definition.

Cysteamine restructures the lash by breaking down disulphide bonds through an alternative, more controlled chemical pathway. It is commonly formulated to better mimic the natural pH of the hair, making it a gentler option compared to traditional TGA-based systems.
Pinkfishes Cysteamine 3-Step System is designed to offer a lower-risk, damage-minimising approach to lash lifting. The system works to reduce the likelihood of over-processing while supporting overall lash health and helping to maintain bond integrity throughout the treatment.
Step 1 – Pink Rise – contains cysteamine as its active ingredient. This sulphur-based compound, derived from the amino acid cysteine, processes the hair more slowly and at a lower pH. The slower processing time gives technicians greater control, making it more difficult to over-process the lashes and significantly reducing stress on both the hair and surrounding skin when compared to traditional TGA systems. The formula is further enhanced with nourishing ingredients such as hydrolysed keratin proteins and plant extracts, which help support strength, flexibility, and overall lash condition during and after the treatment.
For these reasons, many lash technicians have chosen to switch to cysteamine-based systems or offer these alongside. They are widely regarded as more conditioning and gentler on the lashes, with a reduced risk of over-processing. They are particularly suitable for fine, fragile, or previously damaged lashes, and are ideal for performing viral Korean-inspired and modern glueless lash lift techniques.
The Korean Inspired Lash Lift technique prioritises lash health just as much as the lift/curl, to produce a softer, more natural curl rather than a tight perm. It involves using the cysteamine system, and a ‘glue’ powder to secure the lashes to the shield at the same time as processing, rather than a separate step. As well as applying the solution from root to tip for a more even lift as the products are gentler. The system has come from a very similar technique used over in Korea. This method is especially perfect for clients that have thick and stubborn lashes, which are usually difficult to keep back on the shield. Because we apply it across the whole eyelash, this method also works well with naturally curly lashes that need to be reshaped across the whole length, or particularly straight stubborn lashes.
