What is Cysteamine and how does it work?
Cysteamine is the active ingredient in Pink Rise that processes the lashes to be reshaped for a lash lift. This replaces TGA in our standard lash lift, making the process much gentler on lashes.
Can this be used for standard and Korean lash lifts?
Yes, the Cysteamine range is safe to use across the entire lash and so can be used for the Korean technique as well as standard lash lifts.
How is Cysteamine different from traditional lash lift formulas?
The Cysteamine system works a bit slower and so is much gentler on the lashes. This means that it can be applied across the entire length of the lashes and it is much harder to overprocess (though not impossible!).
How long will a Cysteamine lash lift last?
A lash lift (regardless of the products used) if processed correctly, will last as long as the natural lashes are attached. So, this means if your clients lash growth cycle is longer, their lash lift will last longer. This is generally 6-8 weeks for most people, but this may be longer/shorter depending on the client.
Can Cysteamine lash lift products be used on brows too?
Yes, the system can also be used for brow lamination. Just make sure you check your processing times as brows generally process quicker than lashes.
How often can the treatment be repeated?
This treatment can be repeated whenever the treated lashes have been replaced by newly grown lashes – but no sooner than every 6 weeks. Make sure to evaluate your clients’ lashes when they arrive to check that it is suitable to go ahead with the treatment. If any lashes have kinks or curls to them still then they should not be treated until those lashes have fallen out.
Do I need to patch test for lashes and brows?
Yes, always perform a patch test 24–48 hours before treatment to ensure the client has no allergic reaction. If a client has been tested with the product within 6 months there is no need to re-test each time, unless there has been any changes to their daily life (medication, stress, other allergies etc).
Can Cysteamine lash lifts be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
While Cysteamine is considered gentle, we do not recommend
this treatment for pregnant or breastfeeding clients. Due to the change in hormones at this time, they can be a lot more susceptible to reactions at any stage which makes this treatment unsafe. Especially as pregnant people cannot take certain medications if a reaction occurs. Although this hasn’t been proven, there is just not enough research into the topic and so it is just better to be safe and avoid performing a lash lift on pregnant or breastfeeding clients.
Can these products be used at home?
No — Cysteamine lash lift products are professional-use only and must be applied by trained technicians.
Can Cysteamine lash lifts be combined with tinting?
Yes — you can tint the lashes or brows between step 2 (Pink
Set) and step 3 (Pink Shine) of the 3-step system. Just be aware that lashes and brow hairs will process quicker when they have been treated. So, please take this into consideration when leaving the tint on to process and following manufacturer's instructions (especially with brows).
Can I get my lashes and brows wet after treatment?
From 24 hours after the treatment, you are free to get your lashes wet and go about your usual daily routine.
Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?
From 24 hours after the treatment, you can wear mascara on your lashes. However, we recommend against wearing waterproof mascara as this is usually a bit harder to get off and can cause damage to the lashes.
How many treatments can I get out of each bottle?
Around 10-15 lash lifts or brow laminations depending on how
much product you use per treatment. The product will last 6 months once open.
My lash lift didn’t work – why could this be?
There could be a number of reasons as to why the lash lift
didn’t work, or if the lashes weren’t lifted enough.
Have you used the correct size shield? If your shield is too big for the natural lashes, then a lift will not be as apparent than if you were to use a smaller shield.
Did you ‘flip the lid’ when pulling the lashes back onto the
shield? Make sure you don’t pull the lashes too far back onto the shield, as this can cause the waterline to flip, meaning that when the shields are removed and the lashes are released, the lift wont be as good as expected.
Did you leave the product on for long enough? This one is
really hard to gauge, but if you didn’t get a lift, then it may mean that the product needed to stay on for another minute or 2. You can reapply the product at this stage for another 1-2 minutes, but ONLY if the eyelashes are healthy. Otherwise, you will need to wait 6-8 weeks to repeat the treatment.
I have overprocessed a lash lift – what do I do now?
Overprocessing happens if you leave the product on the
lashes for longer than the condition of the lashes can take. Always make sure to err on the side of caution and reduce your timings for newer clients. If you feel that the treatment could have used another minute or 2, jot it down for the next appointment. Over processing also happens from the product being applied too high up the natural lash, as the lash tapers towards the tips making it thinner.
Over processed lashes cannot be relaxed until the condition of the lashes improve.
What are glueless shields?
Glueless shields are made from a stretchy silicone material and so adhere to the eyelid without the need for a glue to attach them.
How do I know which size shield to use?
Our glueless shields come in various shapes and sizes and so choosing the right size and shape for your client is really important. Take a look at our Korean Inspired Lash Lift Masterclass for more information on how to pick the best shield size and shape.
What is the difference between hybrid and rounded shields?
The rounded shields are great for creating a curled lash effect, similar to a D curl. Whereas the hybrid shields create more of a lifted effect, similar to an L curl.
When would I use the flat shields?
During a Korean Inspired Lash Lift to process step 1. Please take a look at our Korean Inspired Lash Lift Masterclass for more information.
Can the flat shields be used for processing step 1 as well?
No, they should only be used to process step 1. The shape the lashes would take if used for processing step 1 would be too lifted back to the eyelid, due to the shields' flat shape.
Are the shields reusable?
Yes, you can reuse all of our silicone shields - both glueless and non-glueless. To clean and reuse the shield cleanse between clients by washing with an antibacterial soap, rinse, dry and then soak in a 70% alcohol solution. Then rinse again, dry and store in a clean, enclosed container.
